Agilent: Overview of Fiscal Second Quarter Results

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) _ Agilent Technologies Inc. (A) reported second-quarter profit of $274 million on Tuesday.
On a per-share basis, the Santa Clara, Calif.-based company said it had net income of 91 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time costs, were $1.13 per share.
The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate from seven analysts polled by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.11 a share.
The scientific instrument maker posted revenue of $1.61 billion during the period, matching Street’s forecast.
For the current quarter ending August, Agilent expects earnings per share to be between $1.20 and $1.22. Analysts polled by Zacks had forecast adjusted earnings per share of $1.20.
The company said it expects revenue of between $1.63 billion and $1.65 billion for the fiscal third quarter. Analysts polled by Zacks expected revenue of $1.66 billion.
Agilent expects annual earnings of between $4.86 and $4.93 per share, with revenue of between $6.67 billion and $6.73 billion.
Agilent stock is down 22% year-to-date, while the S&P 500 index is down 17%. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $124.42, down nearly 7% in the past 12 months.
