FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Spencer Cross and Brice Lewis each recorded top-10 finishes and Tennessee’s No. 20 men’s golf team finished third in the Mason Rudolph Championship on Sunday at Vanderbilt Legends Club.

The Vols shot a total of three rounds of 16 under, including 3 under on Sunday. Including Tennessee, only three teams in the field shot under par in the third round. Third place marks Tennessee’s second top three of the season.

Cross and Lewis are tied for ninth place overall in the tournament, each posting three-round totals of 6 under. Cross closed the tournament with a third round at 2 under on Sunday, while Lewis was at 2 under.

It’s Cross’ 10th career top 10 and his third of the season. Tennessee’s leader in stroke average this year, Cross has been the Vols’ top finisher four times this season.

Lewis also recorded his third top 10 of the season, as well as the sixth of his career. With three par or better rounds on the weekend, Lewis took his season total to 15.

Pull 1 penny and record a 24th place, Tyler Johnson got his fourth top 25 of the season, which is also the 20th of his career. Along with Johnson’s top 25, Tennessee has had three golfers in the top 25 in two consecutive tournaments.

Jacques Hall and Hunter Wolcott the two narrowly missed out on the top 25, tied for 28th and tied for the weekend. Hall and Wolcott each helped count the rounds on Sunday, both shooting evenly in the third round.

Compete as an individual, Laurent Desmarchais finished in 60th place, shooting 8-over.

After playing two tournaments in less than a week, Tennessee has another quick turnaround ahead of its next tournament — the start at the Lewis Chitengwa Invitational in Charlottesville, Va., in eight days on April 11.
