Hundreds of thousands of dollars paid to families of San Jose shooting victims
The unthinkable mass shooting of nine employees at the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority marshalling yard in San Jose has spurred unimaginable generosity.
Hundreds of thousands of dollars – well over half a million – were donated to a collection of GoFundMe accounts created after the mass shooting to help the families of the victims. And that doesn’t include money donated to two separate relief funds established by the Amalgamated Transit Union, which represents VTA workers, and the Union Community Resources program of Working Partnerships USA. Totals for these funds were not available on Monday.
