A fatal motorcycle collision claimed the life of a 51-year-old San Jose man in San Jose last Thursday.
The collision happened Sept. 8 at 4:10 p.m. on the northbound off-ramp from Interstate 880 at South Bascom Avenue, according to a California Highway Patrol news release.
The motorcycle left the eastern edge of the exit ramp and descended an embankment before continuing onto Bascom Avenue and crossing the northbound lanes, where it collided with a pickup truck.
San Jose firefighters responded to the scene and pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene.
The driver and passengers of the van were not injured, the statement said.
Alcohol and drug intoxication are not believed to have played a role in the collision. The accident is still under investigation.
