Rowing ranked third in WCC pre-season poll

Omaha, Neb. — Following a third-place finish at the 2021 WCC Championships, the Creighton Rowing Team earned a prediction for third place in the 2022 WCC Rowing Pre-Season Coaches Poll, announced Tuesday, April 12.
Third place in the preseason poll is the Bluejays’ highest in school history. The previous highest mark was fifth place in 2021 and 2012.
The top spot in the preseason poll went to Gonzaga, earning six first-place votes and 36 points overall. San Diego won the final vote for first place (coaches cannot vote for their own team), earning 31 points. Creighton had 23 points for third place, while Portland and Loyola Marymount tied for fourth with 20 points. The bottom two spots went to Saint Mary’s with 10 points and Santa Clara with seven.
The All-WCC Preseason Rowing Team is made up of 17 athletes from all seven WCC member institutions, as highlighted by Creighton’s Destiny Jordan and Gretchen Strobbe.
The Bluejays return to the water in a home regatta against Kansas State on April 23.
