Softball 3A: Prairie lands State spot
Pravina Blunk tripled, doubled and scored four runs as the Falcons clinched a playoff berth by beating Lakes 10-0 on Thursday in the first round of the bi-district Class 3A tournament in Lacey.
Alysia Fraley doubled and drove in three runs for the No. 4 seed Prairie, who ended the game via grace rule in the fifth inning.
League 3A champions Greater St. Helens take on top-seeded Peninsula in the semi-finals on Saturday.
HERITAGE 11, KITSAP CENTRAL 9 — Larissa Villa homered twice and the Timberwolves opened bi-district play by rallying to win a losing game.
Heritage trailed 8-1, but scored two in the fifth and eight in the sixth. Taylor Frost’s three-run single with two outs gave the Timberwolves the lead.
Makenzie Misner went 3 for 4 with two RBIs. She also struck out 14 and walked none in seven innings.
LEGACY 2, THOMAS JEFFERSON 0 — Kylie Stroup’s two-run single in the top of the seventh kept the Timberwolves’ quest for a state tournament berth alive.
Makenzie Misner threw a shutout, allowing three hits, one walk and five strikeouts.
Heritage will have two chances to clinch a state spot when the tournament resumes on Saturday.
AUBURN MOUNTAIN VIEW 7, MOUNTAIN VIEW 5 — Ava Lechner homered, Mary Fogg had two RBIs but the Thunder’s season ended in a first-round loss.
District 1A Softball
The first round of the tournament was rainy for a second straight day at Fort Borst Park in Centralia.
The eight-team event is now scheduled for Friday and Saturday.
