The 49ers spent $80 on every voter in Santa Clara, but the mayoral race is too close to call
San Francisco 49ers
spent nearly $4.6 million in Tuesday’s election in Santa Clara, including more than $2.4 million to try to unseat Mayor Lisa Gillmor — but the return on that investment wasn’t immediately clear.
Gillmor and his challenger Anthony Becker are locked in a close race. On Wednesday morning, with around 40% of the expected votes counted, Gillmor led by just 53 votes – 7,530 to 7,477, or 50.18% to 49.82%.
